I am a qualified MRSS Shiatsu Practitioner and a registered member of the Shiatsu Society Organization in the UK.
I have studied Zen Shiatsu for 3 years at the Glasgow School of Shiatsu. I continue to further develop my Shiatsu skills, by working on more advanced workshops throughout Europe. I am also training at an acupuncture school, to further my knowledge in Traditional Chinese Medicine. My interest in Shiatsu dates back to 2007, after I experienced my first session. It was one of the best therapies I had ever experienced. I felt it working at various levels; internally, emotionally, mentally and physically. I was intrigued and overwhelmed by the positive and powerful impact of the treatment. Hence, I wanted to gain more knowledge and a deeper understanding about how it worked. Shiatsu has taught me that the body is not just composed of physical matter, such as muscles, bones, nerves, organs, cell, tissue and blood etc. It also has a subtle energy system that allows life force energy to flow through all of us and can dictate our mood, balance our energy levels, keeping our body healthy and free of disease. In Japanese and Chinese culture this force is referred to as ‘Qi or Ki’. If our ‘Qi’ energy is low or blocked, we are more likely to get sick. Yet, if it is high and free flowing we can more easily maintain health and a feeling of well being. When the life force energy is flowing harmoniously it brings resilience, joy and enthusiasm to one’s life, and greater vitality to the body, mind and spirit. Balancing the life force energy, balances the body’s chemistry, and can regulate hormones. It can improve well-being and bring clarity of thought and creates a state of inner peace. As a Shiatsu practitioner, I am able to tune into this life force ‘Qi’ energy through physical touch. I have the ability to assess the distribution and flow of ‘Qi’ throughout the body and correct any imbalances. |
